Who covered the Gold Medal Game for Women’s Basketball in the Olympics? Ann Meyers Drysdale (audio)

Ann Meyers Drysdale did an amazing job as sports analyst for the Gold Medal Game in the Olympics for Women’s Basketball. Having been the only women to ever sign an NBA contract (1979), she brought an incredible, historical perspective to the broadcast. She put everything in such rich context. You could tell she knew the players well; she knew their coaches. (Both US and France.) She has such knowledge of the game plus has such interesting personal knowledge to share. This knowledge came in particularly handy, when after the half, it became apparent France had no chance of winning the game. She was great with blow out material, filling in personal player details, WNBA relevance, talking about players who may be big playmakers in Rio. Excellent job, Ann.

I was fortunate to interview Ann before she left for London. Have a listen to the interview. And if you have the time for some summer reading, I highly recommend her book, You Let Some Girl Beat You? as well.
