Mary Carillo-NBC Olympic Host, Tennis Analyst, and Low Maintenance Traveler (audio)

by Amy Goodwin on January 2, 2013

I had the honor of interviewing Mary Carillo. She is one of my favorite sports analysts. If you have time, look up Mary Carillo’s “badminton rant” at the Athens Olympic games on YouTube, and you will see just how delightfully funny and brilliant this woman is. You may have seen her as the late night host of the Olympic games on NBC. She’s done ground breaking work on “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.” She co-wrote one my all-time favorite documentaries, Dare To Compete: The Struggle of Women in Sports. She analyzes any tennis match of consequence. Sports Illustrated deemed her the “best analyst of the 2000’s” crediting her for “excelling in a sport that far too often soft pedals because of the many conflicts of interest and relationships.” Ladies and gentlemen…Mary Carillo.
